Seven days to a Slimmer: The Slimming World Diet.
The Slimming World diet, or the Slimming World way of life as it’s more accurately called, has won awards for being the fastest and most effective way to lose weight and maintain it afterward. But how does it work? Follow our guide to find out the ins and outs of this popular diet plan.
Introduction
· It is thought that if people can be persuaded to stay on a diet for just seven days, they are far more likely to stick with it. So what is a slimming world? And how can you make sure your weight loss efforts last beyond these next seven days? Whether your aim is weight loss, fitting into smaller clothes, or simply healthier eating, everything you need to know about the slimming world and its seven-day plan.
Pick your packs
Most people know that meal planning is key to losing weight, but many don’t know where to start. The Slimming World plan focuses on three main packs – Red, Green, and Purple – red being your protein source, green as your healthy carbs, and purple as your treat. However, if you want some variety in your weekly meals, ‘boosts’ (orange), such as chocolate bars or flavored water, can be used alongside your three packs. You can build up combinations from these seven packs, so it’s easy to have healthy meals every day of the week. Even better? You can order specific groups online for collection at our centers or buy them in shops such as Tesco and Asda.
Eat more protein
Our bodies burn more calories digesting protein than they do anything else. So, to lose weight quickly and safely, we must make sure we get enough of it. This can be hard when eating out since restaurants typically don’t serve protein independently. The good news is that protein-packed foods like fish, chicken breast and egg whites are readily available in any supermarket, so look for ways to add them to your meals!
Don’t go hungry
Have plenty of healthy snacks in the store. To maintain your weight loss, you should eat little and often and never let yourself get too hungry. If you feel ravenous, wait until later to eat when your stomach can better cope with larger meals. Many people who have lost weight put on weight again because they’ve felt hungry all of the time – so make sure that doesn’t happen!
Drink plenty of water
There are three types of foods that can work against you when trying to lose weight. First up, those with high sugar content, like cakes and sweets. Then there are starchy foods like potatoes, pasta, and rice that can be full of hidden sugars. And lastly, bad fats like butter and fatty meats – things we’re often told not to touch because they’ll clog up our arteries but are bad for us in other ways. When counting your sins, make sure you think about these kinds of foods and alcohol – all of which will stop weight loss in its tracks if consumed too often or in excess amounts. If you’re struggling with your plan, then remember – it’s not worth it!
Work out, or at least move around.
This can be at home, in your office, or even just walking around. It doesn’t need to be strenuous – just enough activity to burn some calories and get your blood pumping. Aim for 150 minutes of exercise each week, just under 20 minutes a day.
Count your sins, don’t forget them!
During your induction week, don’t forget to count every syn (there are 30 signs each day). When it comes to syn counting, you need to ensure that you don’t go over your target number of daily sins and that you don’t miss any out.
Take vitamin tablets
Some diets claim that taking vitamin tablets will help you shed weight. But there’s no evidence to support these claims, and they can also be expensive. Check with your doctor before taking them.
Now relax and enjoy losing weight!
It’s not so much a ‘diet’ as a lifestyle change. Rather than going on and off diets – some of which are unhealthy and unsuitable for long-term use – stick with SW forever. Many people have done just that. When we think about diets, most people imagine starving themselves or punishing food restrictions. However, if used correctly, The Slimmers Diet isn’t like that!
